Absolutely! I'd prefer polyphasic sleep blog, it's not entirely what my site is about but it's worked the best so far.

Would you recommend placing a different anchor text, even if you knew it wouldn't get as good a result? I have other words I would like to use in the future but they certainly wouldn't rank very high amongst all the other blogs doing the same thing. Should this even matter?

Okay I will use the anchor text you choose, you are welcomed to change it in future if you like. I will say that you should not be afraid of going for an anchor text lots of people already rank well for, just keep building links with that same anchor text and after a few months your site will get to the top to, that strategy has always worked for me, in the mean time I will put your link online with you chosen anchor text.
