    Default Canadian Taxes separation

Is there a way to display in the cart the 2 different taxes in Canada? PST - 8% and GST - 5% . Right now, can only show as 13%. It would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
if i am right you would like to separate the 13% to two parts and make it display during the checkout process, right?
We don't have admin setting for this trick, but can be solved be customizing the visible tax variable. Do you have php programming skills?
    Thanks

I am just starting to learn the php, but feel I could do it given proper direction.

What I would like it to say is

    Sub total $ 10.00
    GST 5% $ .50
    PST 8% $ .80

    Total $ 11.30

    Or something to that effect.

    Thanks

Would it affect only the checkout page or there are other place where you want tax appear as you described?

I would just like it to appear on the shopping cart itself, so that when people check to view cart, they would see the actual cost. Also, would it be possible to set it up to eliminate taxes all together.

Example, someone in canada buying, they would be charged both taxes
Someone from the US buying , they would not be charged taxes.

so could this be set up as being country variable?

    Thank you for your help

I have the cart set up locally, and have it set up on the host server, but not active yet. I could try the php editing locally before I upload it.

    Thanks again

If needed, I could have the hosting company do the php editing for me.

Unfortunatly i don't think that it is possible. The country based tax is not a problem you may add as many tax to as many country as you wish at the tax setting at the administration panel, but we with this script you don't need to register to add a product to your basket, only before you would like to checkout, hence we have no information about the vistitor's nationality when we need to decide how to display the tax. Only one possibility exists and this is the IP identification which would be a pain, since it would be necessary to collect the Canadian IP range and keep it always up to date.
    Thanks

That should be fine, as long as for the canadians, they view both taxes separately. Right now that is the main focus.

    Thanks again

If taxes cannot be displayed, or displayed as zero until the customer logs in that is fine. Once the customer logs in, can the taxes be setup as

    Canadian - all provinces - 5%
    Canadian - Ontario - 8%

Then when the customer logs in, this is read, and taxes displayed, tax 1 - tax 2?
