Thanks for highlighting the major hazards we have to content with,as luck would have it mine are on auto updates on the Virus software but out of interest what is the normal time duration for the updates on fixes for viruses is it hours or days ????
For that reason i am using AVG antivirus alongwith ZoneAlarm. AVG updates itself frequently so no more worries i think so.
DON.
Thanks guys. Glad you found the post useful
And thanks to those who dugg the post![]()
I think I should not boast too much, Its my 3rd year now without using anti virus and I have not had any virus.
I used to use Nortons but I really get frustrated with all the additional loads it ads to my computer not to talk of those endless loading of updates etc. BUT I do not allow anyone else to use my computer. In the days when I used to allow my children on my computer, I had viruses and other nasty stuff.

You may already have a virus or a bug on your machine right now. If you don't want to install anti virus, then you should at least perform an online scan to check.
I think Norton provide a free online virus checker
Great post gkd i am very fed up with the Trojan as my computer was infected by the virus and i used avg but unable to remove them. Till date sometimes while scanning it shows infected by Trojan.
Really these viruses are very tricky and make a fuss around our system and network making the environment slow and panic.
So, now i am using Nod32 anti virus and seems this is working quite well for me.
