Suggestion from successful directory onwers

Hi

So far I know the forum has some members who are successful with their directories. They made and have been making their directories prominent, strong , they also earn $$.

I will highly appreciate if they share their opinions what involves to be successful

In my opinion here are some tips to run a successful directory:

* Be different, use a custom directory software (do not just install eSyndicate or PHPLD like thousands of other and call your directory UNIQUE.
* Be even more different - There two directories I am quite impressed with at the moment because of their different approaches: Ask Dir and Deeply linked. Ask Dir offers very detailed article like info about your site. Deeply link is the first directory I know of that only accept internal pages only and do this free of charge.
* Be efficient - Approve submission quickly
* Be communicative - I have submitted to tens of directories and I never received any message to let me know my site has been listed.
* Be Visible - Promote your directory in search engines, other directories and forums like this

I am sure there are a lot more things, I look forward to other directory owners sharing their recipe for success.

Temi, this information are very usefull for us, you are a really experienced directory owner.

I would like to invite some bloggers to post on my site to make it a little variegated, and to improve the level.

If you would like to write your suggestion in a little detailed form I would gladly release this -how to manage a directory- tutorial at my blog. Of course with a live link for the author.

Nice topic to response for me. Yes, I earn satisfactory money from directories. I am getting benefits because of the following matters I keep in my memory always.
1. Make you Design Unique
2. Make category different
3. Quick approve all sites at the proper category
4. Submit your web at the relevant category
5. Do not allow any MFA sites or any garbage sites.
6. Make a common policy for all; do not entertain anyone out of your policy.
7. Always try to keep yourself away from spamming
8. Please make active yourself in all webmaster forums.

I think, you will also get benefits, if you follow it as like me.

Though there are some hints on promotion, most of the suggestions are directory to budiling and operational point of view.

Success will come when it gets decant traffic , revunue
