I'm still thinking of starting one...but not sure I have the time or funds to promote this

when the bids reach high like mine on zorg-links.com, people get scared away.

I have 0 casino sites listed on my site.

Also all homepage bids are 100% paid for. I have paypal reciepts to proove it.

Bid slowly. Add $20 a week and after around 6 weeks you are on the homepage. Simple really. Thats what i did on bigweblinks...

Thats a very good point. It is a bidding directory after all. Some people seem put off by the idea of increasing their bid and think once they have made an initial payment that should be it. But you are paying for a valuable homepage link so it should be worth adding a little funds now and then. You would pay a monthly or yearly fee for a sitewide i don't see how this is any different.

Yeah. I'm quite surprised that a number of my links "get it" - they try and outbid each other, but I suspect my current leader would not bid any more.

it's normal in the beginning when you are talking about 1-3-5 bucks. I would probably pay extra $1 if it will move me on the front page. When you see triple digits bids it's a different story...

Have you noticed that 99% of the time it will be another directory in the top position?

Does the phrase "one hand washes the other" rings the bell?

It is seemingly an industry unto itself, but I can understand why.

Owners spend tens of thousands of dollars promoting them, so they get a fair bit of traffic, and it's quite clickthroughable (often the owner encourages clickthroughs). That's not including pagerank benefits too.

Thank you for your view, I think I shall proceed with my bidding directory. I think I will use LBS as the script, the new version looks impressive.

I am aware of that issue temi, I can see it through myself, and it looks very unproffesional; also, I would never lie to my customers.

I believe further adding to the point that the chances of your bidding directory being the major income for you is nil, so don't let it be. However, it's great for a little extra thing to add to your portfolio for a little extra income a month (mine is around $20/month)
