Both are just metrics that don't have huge significance IMO. Alexa Rank is based on the number of people who come to your site with a specific alexa toolbar installed in their browser - so itsn't a great indication of a site's traffic as it's based on a small cross-section of (probably more tech-savvy) web users. And Page rank is based on Google's page rank metric (but isn't kept as up-to-date as their internal rank) which is just one of hundreds of signals Google uses to rank a website in it's search engine results. A better metric to use would be SEOmoz's Page authority and domain authority, or alternatively, just measure your web stats, conversion rates and sales etc - this is what should really be driving your developments.
