Well my main deficiency in my knowledge is around htaccess. I've read many articles about the topic but I'm still unable to create serious rewriting rules

About .htaccess, do you have any particular questions? For instance, a tutorial about regular expressions used in .htaccess, along with some easy to digest examples would be a start?

Despite of the many resources i read, i don't understand the regular expressions. But i mainly want to create rules, that would transform the whole url structure nicer. This task won't be easy i guess.

That is, you want to change:
xxx.com?id=15
into something like
xxx.com/main/story?

Yes, that is what i want to solve.
