Cheap VB forum software ?

Is there such thing ? im thinking about transferring my PhpBB into VB with VB SEO but haven't got the cash to buy a liecence is there a cheaper way ?

vB is $160 and vBSEO is $149 if I rember well.

You can lease vB though. It's $85 per year.

No cheaper way you have to forkout $160 for vB and $140 for vBSEO. You really do not need vBSEO to achive good ranking so save yourself $140 and just buy vB.

Alternative is to ask Uncle Temi to give you a vB license but he has been know to ask for two links from the vB forum

Does it take much to convert from Phpbb to VB ?

Converting is easy. vB has a system called IMPEX. You use it to import the database from another forum.
If you follow the manual it works quite well, but some problems can occur from time to time.
Although they can be resolved most of the time.

If i change over would i be able to keep the Url names that i already have , or is that what VB SEO does ?

You mean url of you current post? No, you won't be able to do that, the way phpBB and vB handle stuff are quite different, you will not lose any data though but urls will change

What vBSEO does to make your post and categories url appear more search engine friendly by removing those funny parameters vB adds to post.

Ah so any url's that are indexed in google etc will not longer exist ? that could hurt my traffic for quite a while couldn't it ?
