The heat and the beer. I thought about devaluation of those links. Maybe they won't be so effective in the light of seo.

For first sight i would say those pages fit the 100 links at one single page upper limit. Telling the truth I am not fully aware the standpoint of google about the paid links, and how this links will be handled.

These are my thoughts too. Over time google might devalue the weight of links from such directories. We will have to wait and see.

    1. You can control how many links you have on a page from the control panel, you can have 1 or 100 if you like
    2. Not 100% sure but I think Google said paid links are okay as long as you add nofollow tag so that pagerank and link SERP benefits are not passed on to the site you link to.... but not many people are taking any notice of that

I wish I can send you some rain, we have too much of it in UK

This has already happend but that does not stop people starting new directories or adding link to directories.
Small directories are still the best source of traffic for most small businesses. What other alternatives are available? yell.com ? cost you Ł300+VAT per year for one link that comes with nofollow?

I will still take my chance with smaller directories and just add natural linking to my promotion mix as well

I think bid directories are going to do well but Web Directoires will eventually move a head again.

As more and more people learn about Bid Directories, there will be more setup.

Temi, have you submitted LBS to hotscripts and other script download sites?

Not yet, I will be doing that in about 2 weeks. Just getting into the marketing slowly to give us time to know and correct any issues.......... with two weeks all this should be sorted and we should have about 6 skins...then I will hit hotscript and the big forums.
