Default Thieves in U.K. steal police data server

One of the private companies that helps police use mobile-phone networks to track terror suspects confirmed on Saturday that a server had been stolen from its office in Sevenoaks, England. According to police, the data stored on the stolen server was of little value. The company involved, Forensic Telecommunication Services (FTS), says that the data was encrypted.
"In the unlikely event that the server was accessed, none of the data stored on the server in any way compromises ongoing police operations," FTS said in a statement sent to The Mail on Sunday. "The information is made up of either old cases that have passed through the judicial process, or cases that are already in the judicial system and so subject to full disclosure to both defense and prosecution teams."

I have had two letters in the past month informing me that computers containing my personal information have been stolen!

It is the new form of cyber theft.

It's worrying that thieves can walk into a building and steal police servers. Where were the police?

I think if police server is stolen, we are all doomed, if they cannot keep their own property save, how can they protect ours?

Security of data should be a number 1 priority for the police and governments but it does not seem to be.

Police servers stolen, goverment sites hacked, military info stolen but they still don't learn

Maybe they do not care enough to spend more on the protection of informations.

For example in Romania there are very very few IT specialists working in the police , because the salaries are low and almost everyone prefers to work on another domain or for a company.
