Paid Link: acceptable or unacceptable

Hi gents,

I have read a few articular, forums post, blog and such regarding SEO/Google and it seems that paid links are a bad thing. However, other people talk about the yahoo directory which is a paid link too.

So are there acceptable types of paid links and non-acceptable types?

If they look natural then they are acceptable, it is as simple as that. If they don't look natural then you could get banned, either because someone reports you or because the algo spots something unusual in your linking.
