Default Placing images with the products

I have the shop up and running
after fixing all that minor problems
Now i'm trying to find out how to place image to my products
    Tryed several times
when adding a new product ...
    Lets say you have productnr1
and the image you have to insert is product1.jpeg
where do i have to store that image with the ftp program
is it in the dir product_images/
    if yes ok
But then when adding the product in the admin section
what patch do i have to give in is it for example: product_images/product1.jpeg
    or just product1.jpeg
    or something else ?

Hi, how did you fix it? In admin when I try to upload image I get error like:

ERROR: Specified ROOT dir [./templates/] is not a directory
ERROR: Cannot open template. Root not valid.
    :?
