My advice to you is add a blog section in your site,add fresh content in it once a week.
Search engine loves fresh content and it will help you in bringing business through internet.

Yep, like domain said, SEO ( SE Optimization ) is part of SEM ( SE Marketing ).
The differences are that SEO is long term process and for a new website you'll need a traffic boost that can be done using PPC ( SEM ).
